Tonight I had the opportunity to have 2 friends over and watch 'Les Miserables'. I have loved this musical since I was very little and have watched it many times, over and over again, as well as listening to the music on countless number of occasions.
My friends have never seen it, and so, after going to their house to watch 'Pirates of Penzance' I invited them over to my house to watch the 10th anniversary edition of 'Les Miserables'. This particular version features the 'best of the best' and includes Australia's own Philip Quast (you may remember him from Play School if you are old enough) who plays Javert. There are also many other talented actors including Colm Wilkinson who plays Jean Valjean, Ruthie Henshall who plays Fantine and Lea Salonga who plays Eponine.

I don't really know what it is about 'Les Miserables' that makes me love it so much, whether it's the fantastic story that was adapted from Victor Hugo's novel of the same name, the moving performances or the powerful music. For many years I have been looking forward to the day when Les Miserables might come to Australia and I can go and sit in the festival theatre or the entertainment centre and be amazed as I watch this musical I love so much come to life. I don't know when this day will be, but it's certainly something I want to do in this life.
If you haven't seen this musical then I certainly suggest that you get out there and find a copy because once you've seen it, your never the same.
